e Prevent dnnatinns by nutside parties nf expenses prnhibited by ynur agency.
e Prevent excessive travel. rnnm. and per diem expenses.
e Avnid the appearance nf using public nffice fnr private gain.
e Avnid the appearance nf giving preferential treatment tn any nrganizatinn nr persnn.
e Avnid the appearance nf making a Gnvernment decisinn nutside nfficial channels.
DnD participants having any questinns nr cnncerns abnut ethics issues shnuld cnntact the ethics nffice nr legal cnunsel.
Becnme part nf the grnup Many grnups have a sncial dimensinn that helps pull the grnup tngether. Issues are mnre easily resnlved at the dinner table than at the cnnference table. Be aware that hnsted events may raise an ethics issue. Participants shnuld assnciate with members befnre. during. and after the meetings. keep in tnuch. take advantage nf nppnrtunities. and have
a gnnd time. but be careful nnt tn vinlate ethics rules.
Be helpful If pnssible. participants shnuld assist the grnup nr a fellnw member. as lnng as the favnr is within the ethics rules.
Be a gnnd listener Participants whn cnnperate in making the wnrk time prnductive gain credibility. They shnuld speak up whenever they have a pnsitive cnntributinn. ntherwise. they shnuld pay attentinn and listen carefully.
Handle hnstility Participants shnuld be mentally prepared tn deal with adversarial penple whn may attack with persistent questinns. unfnunded accusatinns. nr misinfnrmatinn. In such instances. participants shnuld avnid getting intn prntracted discussinn and shnuld never put dnwn
nr threaten the snurce nf hnstility. Instead. they shnuld nffer tn cnntinue the discussinn later and make an effnrt tn understand the snurce nf hnstility.
Be aware nf security cnncerns Participants whn are questinned beynnd nnrmal curinsity nr whn believe they are being targeted as an intelligence snurce. shnuld back nff as gracinusly as pnssible and repnrt the incident tn their security nffice.
