6.  NOTES

(This section contains information of a general or explanatory nature that may be helpful, but is not mandatory.)

6.1  Intended use.  Standards covered by this standard are intended for use in acquisition to establish requirements for military-unique interfaces, processes, practices, methods, and other engineering or technical criteria.  Non-Government standards or commercial item descriptions should be used to describe the requirements for commercial interfaces, processes, practices, and methods.

6.2  Acquisition requirements.  Acquisition documents should specify the title, number, and date of this standard.

6.3  Associated Data Item Descriptions (DIDs).  This standard has been assigned an Acquisition Management Systems Control number authorizing it as the source document for the following DIDs.  When it is necessary to obtain the data, the applicable DIDs must be listed on the Contract Data Requirements List (DD Form 1423).

6.4  Tailoring guidance.  To ensure proper application of this standard, invitation for bids, request for proposals, and contractual statements of work should tailor the requirements in sections 4 and 5 of this standard to exclude any unnecessary requirements.  For example, if the statement of work requires the development of a revised standard, then all material related to notices should be excluded.
